VuseDesk vs Buildertrend, _the honest version._

Buildertrend is built for large residential construction operations, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. Here is where they are genuinely stronger, where we are, and a calculator that runs on your numbers instead of ours.

The structural differences.

VuseDesk's side of this table is exact and checkable today. Buildertrend's side sends you to their own sheet on purpose: their numbers change, and a comparison that quotes a competitor's stale price is a comparison you should not trust.

A percentage of your jobs
VuseDesk$0.00, structurally. Client payments run as direct charges into your own Stripe account. VuseDesk cannot take a cut because the money never passes through us.
BuildertrendCheck how payments route and what the processing markup is on their current sheet.
What the software costs
VuseDeskTwo flat plans, public and complete: $39.99/mo (Contractor) and $99.99/mo (General Contractor). Five seats included on both, then blocks of five at $15/mo.
BuildertrendTheir pricing changes by tier, seats and promotions. Read their current price sheet, then type the total into the ledger below.
Client logins
VuseDeskFree and unlimited, wearing your logo and color, with nothing for the client to install.
BuildertrendVaries by plan. Check whether client access is gated by tier.
Subcontractor logins
VuseDeskFree, never counted as seats, scoped to the jobs you assign, on the GC plan.
BuildertrendCheck whether subs count as paid users.
The crew and money
VuseDeskNo money on any employee screen, ever. Not a rate, not a total, not an invoice. Structural, not a setting.
BuildertrendCheck what a field tech can see on their plan tiers.
If you leave
VuseDeskCancel and the workspace turns read-only, with no countdown. Clients and payments export as CSV, any job’s documents as a zip. Nothing is deleted unless you ask.
BuildertrendCheck the export surface and what happens to your data after cancellation.
What we refuse to claim
VuseDeskThe security page lists what we do NOT claim yet, and the pricing page names what does not export. On purpose.
BuildertrendMarketing pages rarely volunteer their limits. Read the fine print with that in mind.

Where Buildertrend is genuinely stronger.

Said here, above the fold of our own argument, because a comparison page that concedes nothing is an ad.

Depth for big builds

Buildertrend carries selections, warranty workflows and construction accounting depth that a volume home builder genuinely needs. If you are running thirty homes a year with an office staff, they earned that market.

Onboarding and training programs

They offer structured onboarding. VuseDesk is designed not to need it: a nine-part setup with the app’s own minute estimates on it, one required step, and a sample job already seeded when you arrive.

Purchase orders and RFIs

Deep PO and RFI workflows are theirs. VuseDesk’s bid board, phases and sub scopes cover the general contractor who manages trades, not the production builder.

Where we are.

Do the arithmetic yourself.

We are not going to quote Buildertrend's numbers, because they change and this page should not pretend to track them. Open their price sheet, put their numbers in, and read the year side by side.

Their year, on your numbers$1,788.00

VuseDesk's year$479.88

Card processing is charged by the processor either way and is left out of both sides. Your numbers, our arithmetic; nothing leaves this page.

Judge the software, not the page.
